The Maw has eaten the eastern kingdoms.
Roads burn behind you. Nothing returns from the grey.
The road only runs forward.

Emberfall is a turn-based, dark-fantasy roguelike rendered entirely in hand-crafted pixel art. Gather four survivors, forge what you can carry, and flee the devouring dark — one bloody league at a time.

⚔️ The road is the build

Recruit four heroes from ten classes and stand them by rank — because position is the strategy. A ranger up front can't loose an arrow. A bruiser in the back is dead weight. Where they stand decides what they can do, and every march forward is a choice you can never take back.

🩸 What waits on the road

  • Rank combat — Darkest-Dungeon-style positioning with action points, combos, crits and status-bleeding DoTs.
  • Ten classes, deep kits — a full spell book per hero, craftable abilities, weapons and trinkets.
  • Branching kingdoms — battles, elites, minibosses, gathering, towns and 24 road encounters where a wrong choice springs an ambush.
  • A camp of your own — build and upgrade the forge, shrine, tents, infirmary and more between runs.
  • Permadeath — the fallen stay fallen. The party can shrink. The camp endures.

🔥 Under the hood

Hand-written vanilla TypeScript + HTML5 canvas — no engine, no frameworks.

Lots of depth between class synergies + gear synergies + character bond synergies. I normally would praise such a mellow sound track, and this sound track is pleasant for sure, but if I may say, with the slow party journey speed coupled with the very relaxed and unhurried vibe of random events, perhaps a little nudge upward in BPM would be helpful here? Or even keeping the current soundtrack for camp/rest sites while using another soundtrack during journey or battles? It could just be my headphones and this probably sounds silly, but it felt a little bit too relaxing, as after the first campaign I only wanted to drink some tea and lay down for a bit haha.

That said it was overall a very pleasant demo. Thank you for sharing your game, and I wish you the best moving forward 👍
